Rent what you need From someone down the street

How renting works

  1. Find an item

Hive5 shows you the items near you. Find the one you want, choose the date and rent it.

  2. Meet, inspect and pay

Meet the owner at the agreed time and place, examine the item, pay the rental cost, and take it with you.

A renter taps Pay on the Bosch router's inspection screen while the owner holds the router
  3. Use the item

Enjoy the item for your rental period. Use it, get the job done, and take good care of it.

  4. Return the item

When the rental period is up, return the item to the owner.

Nobody nearby has it? Ask for it.

If the item you need is not listed yet, post a request in the app. Members near you are notified, and anyone who owns one can offer it, so the thing you need only has to exist in someone's garage, not in a listing.

  1. Post the request

Say what you are looking for and when you need it. It takes about as long as writing a text message.

  2. Neighbors are notified

Members near you see that someone is asking, including people who never thought to list the thing sitting in their shed.

  3. Someone offers it

Whoever has one can offer it, and the rental proceeds like any other, same verification, same deposit, same inspection at pickup.

You are protected before you hand over a cent

Hive5 only deducts the payment after you examine the item in person. If it is not as described, you leave it. Every owner has completed an ID verification check, and you rate each other after the rental.
