Renting from a stranger should not feel like a risk
Ratings, deposits, ID checks, and a payment that only clears once you have the item in your hands.
How Hive5 protects a rental
User ratings
Renters and owners rate each other after every rental, so the person you are meeting carries a track record rather than a blank profile.
Security deposits
Deposit funds are held for the length of the rental and released once the item is returned safely. If there is damage, the owner charges against the deposit after inspecting the item.
Verified community
Every member completes an ID verification check before they can rent or list an item.
Payments handled by Stripe
Payments and payouts are processed by Stripe. Owners connect a Stripe account once and receive their earnings within 30 days.
Item damaged or stolen? The security deposit is there for that.
Inspect your item when it comes back. If it is not in the condition you sent it out in, you can charge the damage against the renter's security deposit, which Hive5 holds for the length of the rental.

Item not as described? Leave it.
Hive5 will only deduct the payment after you examine the item in person.
